Ken Moshesh and Friends

Ken Moshesh is a cool looking guy. Frequently rocks a beanie and shades while playing a pair of conga drums. He’s got a way of playing that is rhythmic and tonal at the same time and has mastered his craft over many years playing with various West Coast rock and jazz performers including performing and touring internationally with the Sun Ra Arkestra for several years. Ken makes his home in Durham and has played locally with D-Town Brass and Ken Moshesh and Friends.

Here’s a link to his bandcamp site.

Anna Weaver

Anna Weaver is a storyteller and poet who will keep things going and flowing as the MC for the Fest. Anna is just incredible and host of Raleigh’s Tongue & Groove open mic. She also is creating a cool map of poetry friendly open mics in all 50 states! Anna is expert at crafting a vibe and making a container for great performances.

Vito Dito

Richie Havens meets Velvet Underground in a sweat lodge. Living Earth is an eco-rock band from Durham, NC. Good energy songs of struggle, persistence, resistance, community and connecting with the Earth. Bringing audiences together to celebrate Care and Courage. And to boogie down. Play music player below for sneak peek of Roots Go Down from new EP.

Lavender Alexander

Lavender Alexander is an exciting visual artist and musician based in Greensboro. Lavender’s art explores erotic acceptance and respect and is just wonderfully nuanced. The music is deceptively simple, played on a simple instrument (banjo-uke), but the lyrics go deeper in a curious and pleasing contrast. You have to check it all out on instagram:

Wigg Report

Garage meets pop meets punk. Looking for a very Durham band that will rock your face off? You’ve come to the right place. The bass is jumping and holds it down. The drummer stands! Acoustic guitar and a saxophone and a howl into the darkness. And you’ll want to join in because you just have to. You have to just get up and move. And jump. And swing whichever way too.
